This guide walks you through setting up Bilox, from installation to sending your first electronic invoice via PEPPOL.
Install Bilox & Choose Your Plan
After installing Bilox from the Shopify App Store, you'll be prompted to choose a plan. Start with the Free plan (5 invoices/month) to test, or go directly with Pro ($9.90/month) for unlimited invoices.
- The Free plan has no time limit — perfect for testing
- You can upgrade to Pro at any time from within the app
- Billing is handled through your Shopify account
Configure Your Company Details
Go to Settings and fill in your company information. This data will appear on every invoice you generate, so make sure it's accurate and complete.
- Enter your full legal company name
- Add your complete business address
- Enter your EU VAT identification number (e.g., FR12345678901)
- Set your invoice prefix and numbering (e.g., INV-2025-001)
Choose Your Invoice Format
In Settings, select the default e-invoicing format that matches your country and client requirements. You can also change the format per invoice.
- UBL 2.1 — Universal, accepted across all EU countries
- Factur-X — Required in France (hybrid PDF+XML)
- ZUGFeRD — Standard in Germany (hybrid PDF+XML)
- XRechnung — Required for German public sector
- CII — Cross Industry Invoice, used in specific sectors
Generate Your First Invoice
Navigate to the Invoices page and click 'Generate'. Select one or more Shopify orders, confirm the details, and Bilox will create a fully compliant XML invoice validated against the EN16931 standard.
- Select orders from the list — you can pick multiple orders at once
- Review the invoice preview before generating
- Each invoice is automatically validated for EU compliance
- Download the XML file or keep it in your Bilox dashboard
Connect PEPPOL (Optional)
To send invoices electronically to your B2B clients, connect a PEPPOL Access Point provider. This step is optional — you can always download invoices manually instead.
- Create an account with Storecove or Qvalia
- Get your API credentials from your provider's dashboard
- Enter the credentials in Bilox Settings under PEPPOL configuration
- Test with a sandbox/test invoice before sending real ones
Send & Track Invoices
Once PEPPOL is connected, you can send invoices directly from Bilox. Track the delivery status in real-time from your dashboard — from 'Sent' to 'Delivered' to 'Accepted'.
- Monitor invoice status: Draft → Generated → Validated → Sent → Delivered
- Receive confirmation when your client accepts the invoice
- Re-send failed invoices with one click
- Export your invoice audit log for compliance records
